I had the pleasure of photographing a community kitchen in Toronto in full effect! The food was delicious and it was a great learning experience.

Collective kitchens help men and women come together on a daily basis to plan, prepare and share healthy and economical dishes. These kitchens are a great place for learning, as their programs emphasize independence, sharing, and both individual and collective involvement. Participants in these collective kitchens are mostly young families, new mothers, single parents, people on a special diet (diabetics, vegetarians, etc.), new immigrants or low-income individuals. In fact, collective kitchens are open to anyone in the community.
